Discussion meeting on the occasion of National Productivity Day at Kumarkhali
Zaker ALi Shuva: A discussion meeting was held on the occasion of National Productivity Day at Kumarkhali in Kushtia on the theme “Productivity to meet the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution”. Organized by the upazila administration, a discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the day in the upazila parishad meeting room on Monday afternoon. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bitan Kumar Mondal presided over it and gave a welcome speech highlighting the importance of the day.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bitan Kumar Mondal said that this day is celebrated on October 2 every year. This year the theme of the day is “Productivity to meet the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution” The day is being celebrated in Bangladesh since 2012. In 2011, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared October 2 as Productivity Day. For this, to make productivity a national movement, National Productivity Day is celebrated on 2nd October every year and National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award is given to the best industrial institutes. Apart from this, Bangladesh National Productivity Master Plan 2021-2030 has been formulated in collaboration with Asian Productivity Organization (APO). If this plan is implemented, productivity growth will increase from 38 percent to 56 percent, which will play a very important role in economic development. The government is determined to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
At that time Kumarkhali Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Akibul Islam said the government has adopted the goal of building a hunger-poverty-free, developed-rich gold Bangladesh by 2041. To achieve these goals, increasing productivity in all sectors is essential.
Upazila Parishad Women’s Vice Chairman Marina Akter Meena spoke further emphasizing on the theme. Upazila Engineer Md. Abdur Rahim, Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Nure Alam Siddiqui, Social Service Officer Mohammad Ali, Kumarkhali Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Akibul Islam, Journalist Habib Chauhan, Shudhangsu Kumar Ghosh etc. Officials of various departments in the discussion meeting, Heads of educational institutions and media persons were present.
