Lutfur Rahman (Uzzal): The International Tourism Day was celebrated by the Bandarban Hill District Council with the participation of various public and private institutions and people of different ethnic groups living in the district.On Tuesday (September 27) at 9 am,a colorful rally was held under the leadership of Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Kyaw Shwe Hla.The rally circled the important roads of the district city.

Later a discussion meeting was organized in the auditorium of Bandarban Minority Cultural Institute.Chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council Kyaw Shwe Hla was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Bandarban Hill District Council Member and Convenor Singh Young Mro on tourism related matters.

Chairman Kyaw Shwe Hla said in the discussion meeting,Bandarban hill district is already a lush land of beauty,Waterfall, The highest mountain Tahjingdong and many tourists come here from different parts of the country to enjoy the unique beauty of nature.The diverse cultural life style of twelve ethnic groups including Bengali attracts tourists again and again.
The government is working tirelessly to promote tourism.

Same Day,Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Kyaw Shee Hla inaugurated the International Tourism Day and Mountain Cycle Rally competition by flying balloons.
Cyclist competitors will cycle the 79 km hilly winding road from Bandarban city to Thanchi upazila and return to Bandarban via Alikdam.25 competitors from different regions of the country are participating in this bicycle competition.

Bangladesh Tourism Corporation’s Joint Secretary and Director (Administration) AKM Tarek,Local Government Deputy Director Md.Lutfur Rahman,Bandarban Hill District Council Member Kay Sa Prue,Laxmi Pada Das,Assistant Superintendent of Police Md.Salah Uddin And other public and private officials and journalists were present at the event.

Meanwhile Sirajul Islam,general secretary of Bandarban Hotel and Resort Owners Association said,30-50 percent discount has been given on hotel room rent for tourists coming to Bandarban on the occasion of International Tourism Day.It will continue till October 4.It should be noted that this time the theme of Tourism Day is ‘Rethinking Tourism’ new ideas in tourism.
