Staff Reporter: The Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin said World leaders should work together to combat global adverse impacts of climate change effectively. In this regard, substantial resources are required to be allocated for enhancing adaptive capacity and building the resilience of the most vulnerable countries. Long-term and adequate technical and financial support is a prerequisite for achieving the global goal on adaptation through Locally-led Adaptation actions.
The Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change said this in virtual ‘Adaptation Action Coalition Event at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Locally-led Adaptation’ with some of the most prominent global climate leaders from different countries.
The minister said under the strong leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina government is striving hard to continue the economic development while keeping an eye on achieving climate resilience. The level and progress for Climate Action in Bangladesh is quite noteworthy among leading South Asian countries. Bangladesh has a substantial amount of important policies and plans that support Climate Change adaptation. The government will capitalize on Good Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) practices at disaster-prone coastal areas by the vulnerable communities and integrate them into development plans and wider outreach.
