Work Is Going On In Baniachang leaving Poles On The Road

Journalist Mir Jamal: In the middle of the road of 5/6 Bazar of Baniachang Upazila Sadar, the work of paving is going on without removing the electricity poles. Extreme anger is prevailing among the locals. Locals complain that accidents are constantly happening due to the whims of rural electricity due to the presence of poles in the middle of the road.

On the spot, there is an electricity pole in the middle of the road and at the intersection of Madhya Bazar on the north side of the gate of the sub-health center. There are high voltage power lines and transmitters on these poles. Pedestrians are constantly traveling with vehicles at the risk of their lives. As a result, the locals are fearing a big accident at any time.

The road is being widened and paved by placing two hazardous electricity poles in the middle of the road about 160 meters long and 5.5 meters wide from the eastern bridge of 5/6 market to the sub-health center on the west and south in front of the crossroads.

Md. Maqbool Hossain, president of 5/6 Bazar Businessmen Welfare Association, said that this road of Bazar is the junction of Giningganj Bazar, Bara Bazar and Babur Bazar.

Thousands of pedestrians, including school, college and madrasa students, patients brought to the sub-health center and worshipers praying in the mosque are facing problems to travel on this road with heavy vehicles like trolleys, tomtoms, mixers and motorcycles. This can lead to major accidents at any time if the electricity poles are not removed quickly.

Habiganj Palli Bidyut Samiti Deputy General Manager Mamun Mollah said, “We have not received any written application so far.” Action will be taken on receipt of application.
