Views exchange with journalists to mark National Fisheries Week in Joypurhat

Nazrul Islam, Joypurhat: An exchange meeting was held with journalists in the conference room on Saturday on the occasion of National Fisheries Week 2021 organized by the District Fisheries Department in Joypurhat with the slogan ‘Let’s cultivate more fish, eliminate unemployment’.

District Fisheries Officer Sardar Mohiuddin, Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Deepak Kumar Haldar, Upazila Fisheries Extension Officer Shayed  Shahriar, President of Joypurhat Press Club Adv. Nripendranath Mandal PP, vice President Abu Bakar Siddique, general secretary KM Abdur Rahman Rone, Treasurer, Daily Banik Barta Correspondent Mashrequl Alam, Journalist Mostakim Farrokh, Shahajan Siraj Mithu, Shahadul Islam Saju, Abdul Alim, Nandkishore Agarwala, Rasheduzzaman.About 30 journalists working in various print and electronic media were present at the meeting.

It was informed at the meeting that 24,550 metric tons of fish is produced annually in the 5,000-hectare water body of the district. The total demand for fish in the district is 21 thousand metric tons. The surplus 3,350 metric tons of fish is supplied to different districts of the country to meet the demand. According to the District Fisheries Officer, various programs of the 7-day National Fisheries Week are worth mentioning. The various programs of the week are worth mentioning. On the 2nd day of the program there is inauguration of the program and distribution of prizes and exchange of views among the successful fishermen in the concerned departments including district administration, district fisheries officer’s office, exchange of views with marginal fishermen and fishermen.

Exchange of views with fish farmers and fishermen at the marginal stage on the 3rd day, On the 4th day, special advice to the fish farmers of important areas of the upazila on fish farming and pond soil and water test, on the 5th day display of documentaries on the progress and success of the present government in fisheries sector, training of beneficiaries on 6th day, distribution of fish farming equipment among fishermen conversation of district level officials through conference and conclusion of fisheries week.
