M Muslim Chowdhury, Srimangal (Moulvibazar): Most of the golden ripe paddy in the haor is ripe and semi-ripe. During the Corona period, the yield of Boro paddy has improved a lot. Farmers are happy because the yield is good. But suddenly the Meteorological Department said there is a possibility of heavy rains and flash floods in the Sylhet region this week. As soon as the news was received, the farmers of the entire upazila were informed by miking by the Srimangal Upazila administration to cut the paddy as soon as possible to save it from disaster. Suddenly, the farmers were worried about this news.
Referring to the farmers of Srimangal, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazrul Islam announced on his official Facebook ID on Wednesday night that he wanted volunteers to save the farmers from the sudden calamity. Gathered at 9 in the morning. After that, the rice harvest started in the Baikkabil area of Hail Haor in a festive mood. Srimangal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazrul Islam inaugurated the festival by cutting paddy himself. Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilufar Yasmin Monalisa Sweety was present at the time. Apart from Upazila Corona Security Alert members and leaders and activists of Srimangal Chhatra League, volunteers from various social organizations voluntarily took part in saving the crops of the farmers from storms, rains and floods.
