Unveiling of Suranjit Sengupta Memorial Book

Dulal Mia, Sunamganj: The unveiling of the Suranjit Sengupta Memorial Book has been held in memory of Suranjit Sengupta, one of the members of the Constitution Drafting Committee of Bangladesh, a veteran politician and one of the former members of the Advisory Council of the Awami League.
On Saturday 29th May at 8 p.m in the auditorium Jagat Jyoti Public Library Sunamganj City under the chairmanship Ramendra Kumar talukdar and the performance of journalist shams Shameem as the chief guest Member of Parliament for Sunamganj-4 constituency and Opposition Whip Adv. Pir Fazlur Rahman Misbah.

Special guest speakers were Sunamganj Municipality Mayor Nader Bakht, writer Sukhendu Sen, journalist Pankaj Kanti Dey, journalist Adv. Khalil Rahman, Sunamganj district Awami League organizer Junaid Ahmed, retired headmistress Kohinoor Begum. ‘Suranjit Sengupta Memorial Book’ edited by American expatriate journalist Adv. Ranendra Talukder Pinku and journalist Shams Shamim. Speakers at the event said that he had a magical power to make people his own. Why only in Bhati Bangla, people have gathered everywhere to listen to his speech. When he spoke in Parliament, all the members listened to him with fascination. He has played the role of teacher among the members of the National Assembly. In politics, Suranjit Sengupta’s name will be written in gold letters. ”

The speakers further said, “Suranjit Sengupta, a poet of politics, has been in politics for 59 years with great power. He had an outstanding ability to say any complex or difficult subject through humor. During the war of liberation, he was the first sub-sector commander and later the organizer of the Tekerghat sub-sector under Sector 5. He got involved in politics from his student days. It may be mentioned that Suranjit Sengupta, who had a colorful political life and was one of the organizers of the war of liberation, was born on 5 May 1945 in Anwarpur village of Dirai upazila. Suranjit Sengupta breathed his last at 5:29 am on February 5, 2017while undergoing treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhaka.
