Mongla Correspondent: In Mongla, about 200 people have been displaced due to heavy rains. The upazila administration has arranged dinner for the people who came to the shelter. Roads and houses in the Animal Hospital Road area of the municipality have been submerged in knee-deep water due to the continuous rains that started on Tuesday afternoon.
As a result, two hundred people from the area took shelter at the adjoining Government Bangabandhu Mahila College on Wednesday afternoon as there was no situation to stay at home besides cooking. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamlesh Majumder has arranged dinner (khichuri) for the refugees. Khichuri is being cooked for the shelters with the rice and pulses given by him.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamlesh Majumder said dinner has been arranged for those who have gone to the shelter as their houses have been submerged. They will be given food as long as they are there. He added that dry food was also distributed among 50 families in Kamardanga area in the afternoon.
