Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Mithapukur in Rangpur. Eight others were injured in the incident. They were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Mithapukur Hospital.
The incident took place near Asha filling station in Shatibari area of Rangpur-Dhaka highway around 11 am on Friday (March 18). The identities of those killed and injured were not immediately available.
According to eyewitnesses and Mithapukur Fire Service sources, a passenger bus leaving from Dhaka collided head-on with a truck leaving from Rangpur in Shatibari area around 11 am on Friday. The truck driver and a bus passenger died on the spot. Firefighters rescued eight more people in critical condition and admitted them to Mithapukur Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Rabiul Islam, warehouse inspector of Mithapukur Fire Service, confirmed the matter and said that the two were found dead on the spot. Eight people were rushed to hospital in critical condition. It is not yet possible to identify them.
