Former US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit in the name of his elder brother’s daughter.
The New York Times has also been indicted in a 100 million lawsuit filed in a Duchess County court in New York, AFP reported.
The lawsuit alleges that a Pulitzer Prize-winning report in the New York Times used a fraudulent scheme to manipulate the confidentiality of his tax returns and tried to carry out the conspiracy through his niece, Mary Trump.
In 2018, the New York Times published a report on the tax complexities of various Trump organizations. As a result, Trump has filed lawsuits against his niece, Mary Trump, and three New York Times reporters.
The source of the report that was published was 56-year-old Mary Trump. In his memoirs published in 2020, he made a number of allegations against Trump, which the former US president has denied.
Trump filed the lawsuit in a New York court on Tuesday. New York Times reporters Susan Craig, David Barstow and Russell Buetner have been indicted. Complaints against them, they did this by contacting niece Mary.
The lawsuit alleges that a group of New York Times journalists tried to obtain confidential tax documents from Donald J. Trump. They contacted his niece, Mary, and persuaded her to steal the documents from the attorney’s office.
Allegedly, their report was vindictive. They wanted to take advantage of the plaintiff’s highly confidential and sensitive records.
The New York Times and the three journalists won Pulitzer in 2019 for their report investigating the Trump family’s finances. Pulitzer’s authorities said at the time that the report, which Trump claims was his property, disproved his claim and leaked the story of his tax evasion behind building a business empire. From the wealth that Trump received from his father, his current wealth is 400 million. Much of this is achieved through his various deceptive activities.
Mary Trump is the daughter of Donald Trump’s older brother. Trump’s older brother died in 1981 from complications caused by excessive drinking. The New York Times published the report based on what Mary said about Trump in her memoir, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, in 2020.
