A tree planting program has been organized by the district administration and in collaboration with the Chapainawabganj Youth Development Department on the occasion of the 72nd birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, one of the organizers of the Great Liberation War, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In addition, saplings of different species were distributed among the youth under the tree planting program.
Deputy Commissioner Manjurul Hafeez, who was the chief guest, planted the first tree at the Circuit House premises on Thursday (August 5) afternoon.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Zakiul Islam, Deputy Director of Youth Development Abdul Mannan, District Council Member Abdul Hakim, Nezarat Deputy Collector (NDC) Chandan Kar, Assistant Commissioner Ashish Montaz, Ashikur Rahman, Tawfiq Aziz, National Agriculture Medal recipient & owner of Manamina Farm Matiur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Manjurul Hafeez said, ‘Today is Sheikh Kamal’s 72nd birthday. The death of Shahid Sheikh Kamal has worked tirelessly for the betterment of the country’s aesthetic football, cricket and other indigenous sports. We remember him with respect through today’s tree planting program.’
