A court has ordered a total of six people, including Whip Shamsul Haque and two MPs, to be banned from traveling abroad on various charges including corruption. Dhaka Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayesh recently passed the order on an application by the ACC.
ACC prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed the information to the media. The other five who have been banned from traveling abroad are Sunamganj-1 MP Moazzem Hossain, Bhola-3 MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury, Housing and Public Works Ministry Joint Chief Engineer Sajjadul Islam, former Additional Chief Engineer Md. Abdul Hai and Dhaka Wanderers Club employee Abul Kalam Azad.
Mahmud Hossain Jahangir said the investigation is on against Whip Shamsul Haque and others. So the ACC appealed to the court to ban them from traveling abroad. Following the hearing, the court banned them from traveling abroad.
He further said that various allegations including corruption and money laundering are being investigated against six persons including Whip Shamsul Haque. This application was made so that they could not flee abroad at this time. The court on June 8 ordered a ban on foreign travel.
