Police have arrested three fake DB policemen in Madhabpur. They were arrested from Mantala Rail Crossing in the upazila on Monday (August 16) at noon.
The arrested are Mohammad Zaheer Mia, 45, son of late Abdul Samad Master of East Pashabu village under Falang police station in Shariatpur district, Mintu Mia, 40, son of late Minagazi of Madna village in Chandpur district, and Joynaliz Mordan of Ramajul village under Kalkini police station in Madaripur district. (26). Mantala outpost police arrested them while they were crossing the train at Mantala rail crossing yesterday afternoon.
At the time, 2 lakh 2 thousand 6 hundred rupees in cash, a walkie-talkie set, 2 sets of police uniforms, 1 private car (Dhaka Metro G-21-1353) and a handcuff were recovered from them. Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, inspector in-charge of the Montala police investigation center, confirmed the incident and said Kazi Russell Ahmed, son of Kazi Rafiq of Rampur village in Vijayanagar upazila, was returning at noon after withdrawing money from Madhabpur Pubali Bank. On the way, DB police in the Islampur area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway took Kazi Russell Ahmed off the local bus and took him to the microbus. After receiving the news, the police barricaded them at Mantala rail crossing and arrested them. There is a policeman named Zaheer Mia who has been arrested and dismissed by this gang. The gang has been involved in snatching money from traders under the guise of fake DB police for a long time. There are cases against them in different police stations of the country.
OC Abdur Razzak said the police had filed a case as a plaintiff. On Tuesday, they were sent to jail through the court.
