Mahmudul Hasan, Pirganj (Rangpur): An ‘Institutional Public Hearing’ has been held in Pirganj to update the information on the property purchased / acquired for the rehabilitation of Mohaj’s family. The event was held on Thursday (August 19) afternoon at Anantrampur Girls’ High School (Colony) ground in Chaitrakol Union of the upazila.
Atiqul Haque, Director General of Disaster Management Department was present as the chief guest. He said in his statement that there was no chance of illegally occupying Mohaj’s property. We will try to rehabilitate the families of Mohaj subject to negotiation. He added that Mohaj’s property was not transferable. Therefore, the complexity created with the land needs to be resolved.
Also present on the occasion were Mahbubar Rahman, Deputy Director, Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management, Nur Mohammad Mandal, Chairman, Pirganj Upazila Parishad, Tajimul Islam Shamim, Municipal Mayor and General Secretary, Upazila A’League, Additional District Magistrate, Rangpur Raihan Kabir, District Disaster Management Officer Akhtaruzzaman. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Biroda Rani Roy, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Alauddin Bhoona Jani, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mizanur Rahman, Senior Vice President of Upazila A’League Professor Nurul Amin Raja, Advisor- UP Chairman Ziaur Rahman Sabuj, Rabiul Islam, Ataur Rahman Mandal , Rabiul Islam Robi, Enamul Haque Shaheen etc.
It may be mentioned that in Chaitrakol Union, in 5 mouzas, there are 810 acres and 36 percent land under the Relief and Disaster Management Department. In the meantime, about 500 acres of land has been vacated due to the intervention of the Department of Relief and Disaster Management. Besides, there are khas properties in that union (Part-I) 172 acres, (Part-II) about 21 acres of land.
