The state minister of labor gave crores of Tk to the workers in Khulna

Khulna Correspondent: State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian at the hands of about 350 workers and their families in the formal and informal sector of Khulna district from the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation fund. He handed over a check for thousands of Tk.

The state minister handed over the check to the workers at a handover ceremony at the Divisional Labor Office premises in Rupsa area of Khulna metropolis on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking as the chief guest at the handover ceremony, the state minister for labor said, “It cannot be said that jute mills have been shut down, production has stopped.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has settled the debts of the workers. Giving good news to those involved in jute industry, he said that tenders have already been submitted for launching 5 jute mills. The matter of expert committee is being examined. He hopes that the jute mills will be reopened soon.

The state minister said, “I have been with the workers happily and sadly for 49 years.” It will fall at 50 in December. As long as I live, I will work for the welfare of the workers.

The Minister of State for Labor said to the workers, do not evade work, life will evade you. We have to improve the quality of life by taking action. Immediate assistance will be provided to the sick, terminally ill workers if they apply to the Workers’ Welfare Foundation Fund. Highlighting the recent attempts to destroy communal harmony, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all domestic and foreign conspiracies must be tackled and the respective fathers of the nation must fulfill their respective responsibilities to build the golden Bengal of their dreams.

In a special guest speech, Director General of the Labor Department Gautam Kumar called State Minister for Labor Begum Mannujan Sufian “Mother of Workers”. He said that millions of workers dream in the eyes of the labor department. Workers’ Hospital at Tejgaon and Labor Tower at Motijheel will be constructed. The Ministry of Labor is dreaming of setting up a workers’ welfare school and college in the future.

Presided over by Moniruzzaman Talukder, Khulna Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner of Police SM Fazlur Rahman, Khulna Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary MDA Babul Rana, Deputy Inspector General of Factory and Establishment Inspection Department Mahfuzur Rahman Bhuiyan, Khulna District National Labor League General Secretary M Zafar Ranjit Kumar Ghosh delivered the speech. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Divisional Director, Khulna Labor Department delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. The event was organized by the Khulna Divisional Labor Department.

The Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation has so far provided assistance of Tk 4 crore 60 lakh in Khulna district.
