The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of 12 kg of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level in the private sector. Its price including VAT has been fixed at Tk 1,259, which was earlier Tk 1,033.
The new prices were announced at an online press conference on Sunday (October 10) by the chairman of the energy sector regulator BERC. Abdul Jalil.
The new price will be effective from today. On the other hand, the price of state-owned LPG did not change as the cost of production did not change. The official price of 12 kg LPG has remained at Tk 591.
Besides, the new price of LPG used in cars has been fixed at Tk 58.68 per liter, which was earlier Tk 50.56.
Earlier, on April 12, BERC fixed the price of LPG for the first time in the country. After that the price is being adjusted once every month.
At the press conference, the chairman of BERC said that the price of LPG has increased a lot in the world market. Considering that, the price of LPG has been adjusted in the country. Operators will surely implement it.
At the beginning of the press conference, the secretary of the commission Rubina Ferdousi welcomed everyone. BERC members Mohammad Abu Farooq, Maqbool-e-Ilahi Chowdhury, Mohammad Bazlur Rahman, Md. Were present among others. Kamruzzaman etc.
It is learned that propane and butane, the main ingredients for making LPG, are imported from different countries. The Saudi company Aramco publishes the price of these two components of LPG every month. This is known as Saudi Cargo Price (CP). BERC adjusts the price of LPG in the country based on the Saudi CP.
