The police came forward to protect the ‘ripe paddy’ of the Jaintapur farmer

Sylhet Bureau: Police have come forward to protect farmers’ ‘ripe paddy’ in Jaintapur, Sylhet. The farmer has been relieved of some worries. However, he sought the cooperation of the police to bring the ripe paddy home in time.

It is learned that on Monday (December 7) morning, a group of extortionist terrorists tried to loot ripe paddy grown on 3.77 acres of land in Shukainpur area of Darbast Union. Upon receiving the news of the incident, a group of forces including SI Pradeep came to the spot on the initiative of Jaintapur Model Police Station OC Mohsin and raided the spot.

At that time the looters who came to cut the paddy fled. However, the police seized about 25 bags of paddy from the spot. The case was being prepared till the last news was received.

Incidentally, Abdul Khalik, son of late Barkat Ullah of Farfara village in Jaintapur upazila, cultivates paddy on 3.77 acres of his owned land like every year. But as soon as some influential miscreants of the local area extorted money from the terrorists, they started fleeing. If the demanded tribute is not paid, the land grabbers and the paddy harvesters are paid.

This year too, the miscreants demanded a large sum of money from the land owner Abdul Khalik. As he was unable to pay the dues, a group of terrorists rushed to cut the paddy at around 9 am on Monday.

After receiving the news, the land owner informed the police about the incident and the OC Mohsin’s intervention thwarted the looting activities of the extortionist terrorists. However, the police could not arrest anyone involved in the incident till the writing of this report.

Talking to Jaintapur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohsin on his mobile phone, he said that he could first find out about the harvest of ripe paddy on his mobile phone. He immediately rushed SI Pradeep to the spot. The accused immediately fled. However, some paddy was seized and kept in the custody of local UP members.

Meanwhile, SI Pradeep confirmed the truth and said that the plaintiffs are very bad natured people. He said that they do not follow any law. However, he immediately confirmed that a prosecution was being sent to the court at 188.
