Staff Reporter: Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin said that the Bengali nation will never forget the outstanding contribution of patriotic Bengali leaders who living abroad created public opinion in favor of Bangladesh’s independence after the declaration of independence by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said that as a result of the tireless work of the organizers of the liberation war in exile, the public opinion of the powerful countries of the world came in favor of independence. As a result, our independence was accelerated and many countries recognized Bangladesh soon after independence.
The Minister for Environment said this while he laid a wreath at the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Sydney Street in East London and visited the graveyard of one of the organisers in exile and Awami league vice chairman of United Kingdom late Ustar Ali on Friday afternoon.
The Environment Minister said the Bangladesh government is recognizing the organisers in exile as heroic freedom fighters in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the liberation war. We need to remember their contribution not only nationally but also at the individual level.
The Minister also paid tribute to the late Ustar Ali for his lifelong work for the welfare of the people of the country and the region and for the forgiveness of his departed soul.
Leaders of the United Kingdom Awami League, leaders of the local Bangladeshi community, expatriates of Juri-Baralekha and family members of the late Ustar Ali were present on the occasion.
