In Moulvibazar, the district administration has run a mobile court in the city in the public interest. The mobile court fined five people for smoking in front of two restaurants and public places. In seven cases, fines of Tk 12,100 were paid and recovered.
On Tuesday (August 17), under the direction of Deputy Commissioner and District Wise Magistrate Mir Nahid Ahsan and under the overall supervision of Additional Wise Magistrate Rumana Yasmin, a mobile court was conducted in the Kusumbagh Road Central Road area of Sadao Upazila at Khabar Hotel and various shops.
The owner of Shah Mostafa Biryani House and New Cafe Paprika Restaurant was fined Tk 10,000 in two separate cases under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 for preparing and storing food in an unhealthy environment. In addition, five more persons were fined Rs 2,100 under various sections of the Penal Code, 1860 and various other sections of the Smoking and Tobacco Use (Control) Act, 2005 for selling goods in shops without complying with health rules, not wearing masks and smoking in public.
