The left bank of the Karatoya river, including the block at Palashbari, has been flooded

Md. Shahriar Kabir Akand, Palashbari (Gaibandha): The left bank of the Karatoya river in Palashbari has collapsed three times this time after the construction of a flood control dam. According to locals, the dam collapsed with three blocks due to irregularities in the construction work.
 It is learned that a contractor under the Bangladesh Water Development Board (NWDB) Rangpur at the border of Gaibandha district, Palashbari upazila, Kishogari union and Peeganj upazila, Chatra border, under construction at a cost of Tk 4 crore, completed the construction of the Karatoya river on the left bank.
After the end of the monsoon season: At the beginning of the last 15/16 days, about 50 feet of the dam with the block collapsed. Yesterday, July 23, the dam was seen on the spot and the blocks collapsed and went into the river.
Locals, who did not want to be named, said the dam was collapsing due to widespread irregularities and errors.
