Health Minister Zahid Malek said that they were looking for an alternative hotel rent as they could not accommodate the corona patient in the hospital.
The health minister said this in a briefing at the secretariat after a meeting on the corona infection situation on Tuesday.
The health minister said 90 percent of the hospital seats have patients admitted. There are 95 percent patients in ICUs. I am building a field hospital at Bangabandhu Medical University. Work in progress. At first I can give 500-600 beds. One thousand beds can be taken in phases.
He said not everyone needs to be hospitalized. I have thought of renting a separate hotel for those patients, there will be medicines, doctors-nurses. I will provide some oxygen. Because the hospital has no more space, the hospital is not empty. That’s why I’m looking for a hotel.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, who presided over the meeting, said there was a shortage of ICUs at present. The Ministry of Health will set up a dedicated 600-bed ICU center for Kovid patients at the Bangabandhu Medical University Convention Center from Saturday.
