The government is determined to break child marriage: Planning Minister

The government is concerned about the increase in child marriage due to the Corona epidemic. However, Planning Minister MA Mannan said the government was determined to break the deadlock soon. “Our idea is to end this problem of child marriage,” he said.

Today, Tuesday (October 12) at 11 o’clock in the Ministry of Planning, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative said. The minister had a meeting with Asa Torkelson.

After the meeting, the minister told reporters that UNFPA is aware of child marriage. I admit. Having said that, we are handling it like we are. I am bringing people to understand. We will solve this problem soon.

He added that at one time people did not want to use drinking water, sanitation, family planning drugs. But that situation has changed now. Our idea is that this problem of child marriage will also end.

Planning Minister said. Asa Torkelson said that she had a very good time in Bangladesh. He is happy to work here for more than four and a half years.

The UNFPA representative said that Bangladesh has handled the situation better than Sweden.

He said UNFPA will do more in Bangladesh. The kind of help that Bangladesh needed before is no longer there. The need for new types has increased. The organization will increase education and research support.
