Md. Nesar Ahammed: At the request of Chattogram City Corporation, the district administration has given approval to set up three temporary cattle markets in the city on 18 conditions. In addition, sacrificial animals will be traded at three more permanent markets of the city corporation in the city. In other words, on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, a total of six animal markets will be set up in the city.
On Tuesday (June 29), the district administration approved the setting up of three hats. Nazrul Islam, chief revenue officer of Chattogram City Corporation, confirmed the matter to the daily morning glory.
He said an application was made by the city corporation to set up seven temporary huts. The district administration has given permission to set up three temporary huts with 18 conditions. The market will be held from 12 to 21 July. In addition to temporary markets, three permanent cattle markets will also be used for Eid-ul-Azha.
He added that a notice has been issued in the newspaper for leasing the temporary huts. The leasing process will be completed in a timely manner.
According to city corporation sources, permission has been given to set up a temporary cattle market at Karnafuli Animal Hut (Nur Nagar Housing Ground), Saltgola Railcrossing Hat and an empty field south of Butterfly Park in Patenga. Besides, the permanent hats are: Sagarika Pashur Hat, Bibi Pashur Hat and Postarpar Hat.
It may be mentioned that last year, a total of seven hats including four temporary and three permanent ones were set up in Chattogram city.
18 conditions must be met the lessee has to abide by 16 conditions in the temporary animal market. Notable among these is: The temporary animal market should be set up at least 100 yards away from the main road. Under no circumstances should the movement of vehicles be obstructed on the road. No animal can be kept outside the animal market. Buyers and sellers should all wear masks and maintain physical distance. Leaseholder Md. Arifur Islam said-
In addition, hygiene rules should be followed at the cattle market to prevent corona infection and spread. Hand sanitizer and soap and water should be provided on the way in and out. One-way movement of buyers and sellers should be arranged in the temporary animal market. That is, the way to enter and exit must be separate. CCTV cameras should be installed at important places of animal markets. Counterfeit note identification device should be kept.
