Sweden’s Social Democrat leader Lofven will have a week to resign or announce early elections.
A no-confidence motion against Lofven was tabled in parliament after the Left withdrew support from the coalition government over rent control. This led to the fall of the Social Democrat coalition government formed with the Green Party.
If the Prime Minister decides to resign, the Speaker of Parliament will have to negotiate with various parties to form a new government. Last week, the Left Party demanded a no-confidence vote. They made the call after a dispute with the government over the rent of the newly constructed building.
