The Environment Minister left for England to attend the July Ministerial of the COP-26 Presidency

Staff Reporter: Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin has left Dhaka on Saturday (July 24) at 4.25 am at the invitation of COP-26 President Alok Sharma to attend the “UN Climate Change Conference, UK 2021: The July Ministerial” to be held in London.

The Environment Minister is leading a three-member Bangladesh delegation. The other members of the delegation are Md. Mostafa Kamal, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Md. Ashraf Uddin, Director General, Department of Environment.

During the visit, he will attend the ministerial-level “The July Ministerial” to be held in London on July 25 and 26 under the chairmanship of Alok Sharma, President of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Glasgow, Scotland in the United Kingdom in November.
In the meeting he will inform the COP-26 President about the expectations of Bangladesh regarding the global attempt to limit global warming by 1.5 degrees Celsius, scaling up of climate adaptation activities, loss and damage, Article 6 and financial assistance to poor countries by rich countries to combat climate change according to the Paris Climate Agreement.

After the meeting, he is expected to meet with Bangladesh community leaders and high-ranking officials in London. After the visit, he will leave London for Bangladesh on August 1 at 3 pm local time.
