The dilapidated condition of the road in Manikchari. Vehicles are running at risk

Md. Shahidul Islam, Khagrachhari: Almost all the roads in the village including Manikchhari Upazila Sadar of the district have been destroyed.

It can be seen on the ground that almost all the roads including Upazila Sadar, Bazar area, Batnatali Road, Tulabil, Chhadurkhil Road, Cheunga-Yogyachola Road, Kumari Road, Gari Tana-Yogyachola Road have collapsed and the number of accidents is increasing.

Rains and heavy vehicular traffic and road construction defects are believed to be the main reasons for the collapse of roads during this monsoon season. There is no drainage system on either side of the road. Although the road work was going on in the Upazila Government Office area, the contractor said that the work could not be completed on time due to rain.

At present large potholes have been created in these roads. Which is completely unsuitable for traffic. In the public interest, all these roads need to be repaired quickly with drainage system. At noon on August 30, a truck got stuck in a pothole in the Ma Bhaban area, causing severe traffic jam.

Upazila Chairman Joynal Abedin rushed to the spot and arranged for traffic. He immediately ordered the road to be repaired and recruited manpower. He assured the local people that he would take initiative to repair all the damaged roads with the help of the government.
