Two Bangladeshis were killed in the BSF firing but their bodies were not returned four days later. The incident took place on the Burirhat-Lohakuchi border in Lalmonirhat. The villagers and their relatives have protested against the incident.

On Monday (November 15) afternoon, the human chain was made in the main market of Kaliganj upazila. Locals in the human chain protested and demanded the return of the body.

Ekramul Haque, brother of the deceased Idris Ali, Enamul Haque Raja, a member of Ward 5 of Goral Union and many others spoke at the human chain organized by the family of the deceased.

Speakers at the human chain said that the Indian BSF shot dead two Bangladeshis and took their bodies to India as they were crossing the border. Even after four days, they are not returning the body. The Bangladesh Border Guard is not even communicating with the family. Bangladesh Border Guard is talking to BGB but they are not responding. In this situation, the locals and family members have become helpless.

At the request of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the speakers at the human chain said that they had not returned the bodies of four Bangladeshis from Patgram before. If that happened then where would the family go? They do not have the right to shoot, let alone arrest for infiltrating India.

Md. Was killed in this incident. Idris Ali’s younger brother Ekramul said, “We are Bangladeshis by birth.” We have voter ID cards. But BGB says the victims are not from Bangladesh. So which country’s citizen? Myanmar? My brother was shot dead in public. The BGB is watching the bodies being taken away, the people are watching while they are saying something else. Even though he was shot dead in Lalmonirhat on the same day, why BGB is not taking back his body yet? Our earnest request is to return my brother’s body. She has a daughter, a son and a 3-year-old child who passed the SSC exam. They want his father’s body back.

Incidentally, last Friday morning, two Bangladeshis were killed when BSF opened fire on them while they were fetching cows across the Burirhat-Lohakuchi border at 917.5S India. Although 4 days have passed since the incident, BSF did not return the body.

The deceased were identified as Idris Ali, son of Moslem Uddin and Asaduzzaman Bahani of Lohakuchi Malgara Maina Chowra area of Goral Union, son of Altab Hossain of Balatari village in Malgara area.
