The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is interrogating five officials, including two DIGs in Dhaka and Mymensingh, in connection with allegations of corruption, including recruitment of manpower to various posts in the Prisons Department and illegal canteen trade.
Monday (January 17) at 9:30 in the morning at the head office of the ACC Assistant Director. A team led by Saiduzzaman is interrogating them. This information has been known from the sources of the public relations department of the ACC.
Meanwhile, DIG Prisons of Dhaka Division Tipu Sultan and DIG Prisons of Mymensingh Division Jahangir Hossain have completed their interrogation.
In addition, the former IG Prisons Ashraful Islam and former Additional IG Prisons. Iqbal Hasan, Asadur Rahman of Jamalpur District Jail and Yunus Zaman of Barisal Central Jail are also to be questioned.
Earlier, on January 6, the ACC summoned them and issued a notice to the Inspector General of Prisons at the headquarters.
The notice alleges misuse of power and bribery, recruitment of manpower to various posts in the prisons department, illegal benefits and transactions of prisoners in exchange for money and embezzlement of government money through various irregularities and corruption including illegal canteen trade.
