That girl is the best winner of Rajshahi district

Abdul Baten, Rajshahi: Johra Dil Afroz Khuki, a well-known women’s paper seller from Rajshahi, has been selected as the best Jayita of Rajshahi district as a woman who has started her life with a new initiative by removing the horror of torture.

She was given the award at the Human Resource Development Training Center on Wednesday (December 9th) at the ‘Bangladesh in Search of Victory’ program organized by the Department of District Administration and Women’s Affairs on the occasion of International Women’s Violence Prevention Party and Begum Rokeya Day.

She was given this honor as a woman who started a new venture by removing the horrors of torture.

Rajshahi Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Muhammad Shariful Haque presided over the function and Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil was present as the chief guest.

Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil said, “As human beings, we want happiness, peace and freedom from discrimination and oppression.” From time to time majestic women have been born for the welfare of human beings and human liberation.

Because of whom the world has slowly moved from darkness to light. Hazrat Muhammad SAW spoke of human liberation, peace, liberation of women. He preached Islam for human liberation. The way in which women are given dignity in Islam is unimaginable.

He added that the rights have been established in the way women were given dignity in Hadith and Quran 1400 years ago. From this it is understood that the message of religion is for the liberation of all people.

People say for the liberation of both women and men. Khadijatul Kubra was the first to help the Prophet (peace be upon him) in preaching the religion and the message of liberation. Who is the consort of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

He was the first to believe. The way in which Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa gave Bangabandhu wisdom, advice and courage in our war of independence, the man who advised his leaders in prison for 13 years and in his absence in his family is unimaginable and unforgettable. Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam said, “Whatever you do for good in the world, half of it is done by women, half by men.”

Without the role and cooperation of women, civilization and human development, social, cultural and family development is never possible at all. Our Begum Rokeya realized at that time that women’s education was necessary to take women forward in development and social field. Women have come a long way since she came forward at that time.

Prominent social activist and senior vice-president of Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League Shaheen Akhter Renee said women should be inspired by Begum Rokeya’s ideology and move forward. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working tirelessly to integrate the backward and neglected women in the society as well as the women who have been abused by her family, husband and society at different times into the mainstream of the country.

He added that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina implemented the women’s policy in 1996 in the light of the dream of Begum Rokeya for women’s emancipation. At the same time, she said, women’s participation in social and economic activities is essential to take the country forward.

To take the neglected backward women forward in the country, to bring them back into the mainstream of the country, should not be limited to the celebration of International Women’s Violence Prevention Party and Begum Rokeya Day. He called upon the youth, dignitaries and politicians to come forward to help these oppressed, downtrodden and backward women.
