Stone-laden truck pushes a standing bus: 6 killed

Five people were killed when a truck hit a bus parked at Trishal in Mymensingh. The accident took place when a truck laden with stones hit the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Chelerghat area of ​​the upazila around 2.30pm on Saturday (October 16).

At least 10 people were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. However, the names of the victims were not immediately known.

Mymensingh Fire Service duty officer Selim Mia said a unit had been sent to the spot after receiving information from locals. Five people died at the scene. Another died at the hospital. Rescue operations are underway. Traffic on the highway was closed for about an hour after the accident.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station Main Uddin said the accident took place when a Sherpur-bound bus from Dhaka reached Chelerghat area of ​​Trishal and hit a Mymensingh-bound stone truck from behind. The back of the bus is twisted. Five people died on the spot. Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and rescued the bodies and the injured and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Another died at the hospital.

The OC added that at least 10 people were injured in the incident. Four of them are in critical condition. The names of the immediate victims could not be identified. The drivers of the two vehicles have been absconding since the accident.
