Akhteruzzaman Chapainawabganj: The government is working relentlessly to build the BGB as a state-of-the-art and international standard border guard force. The BGB has already been upgraded to a three-dimensional force with major changes in the organizational structure of the BGB. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said this while addressing the concluding parade of the 97th recruit batch organized by the 53rd Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion at Chapainawabganj on Saturday morning.
At the time, the minister said, as part of Smart Border Management, new BOPs, BSPs, state-of-the-art surveillance equipment systems, ATVs and state-of-the-art APCs, riot control vehicles, scanners and speedboats have been added at the border.The Minister further said that the construction of a new training center at Chuadanga is underway with the recent addition of state-of-the-art anti-tank guided weapons to the force and increase in training activities.
After inspecting and greeting the parade, the Minister handed over the crest to the first place recruit GD Abdul Quader Jilani of the 98th Recruit Batch and other outstanding soldiers. Present at the time, Chapainawabganj Sadar-3 MP Harunur Rashid and Shibganj-1 MP Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, Rajshahi Sector Commander Colonel Anwar Latif Khan, Deputy Commissioner Manjurul Hafeez, Superintendent of Police AHM Abdur Rakib, 53 BGB Commander Lt. Colonel Suraj Mia, 59 BGB Commander Lt. Colonel Amir Hossain Mollah, etc.
