Sylhet Representative : Dismissed (SI) Akbar, in-charge of Sylhet Bandarbazar police outpost, has been arrested from the border area. On Monday (November 9) at around 10:30 am, the local people arrested him from the Indian Khasia capital at Dona border in Kanaighat. After fleeing for 26 days, he was finally caught by the locals.
Meanwhile, a video that went viral on social media shows the policeman accused of murder being detained by members of the indigenous Khasia community. In the viral video, Akbar is heard to say, I did not kill alone. Five or six were beating. That’s why he died.

The PBI has so far arrested three policemen in connection with Raihan’s murder. Among them, Harunur Rashid, Titu Chandra Das and ASI Ashek E-Elahi have been sent to jail after remand.
Incidentally, on Sunday (October 11) morning, Raihan was picked up from the Kastghar area of the city and tortured to death at the Bandarbazar police outpost. Later, the victim’s wife filed a murder case with the Kotwali police station on Monday (October 12).
