Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Sheikh Kamal was a multi-dimensional talent role model of youth. He was not only the best sports organizer and athlete of the country, but also a brilliant student. Along with studies, he cherished and practiced native culture wholeheartedly.
The Prime Minister said these things in his speech on Thursday on the occasion of the 73rd birth anniversary of martyred freedom fighter Captain Sheikh Kamal. Khabar bus.
The Prime Minister said that she is very happy to know that the birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal is being celebrated with due national status by the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He sincerely thanked everyone associated with this celebration.
Sheikh Hasina said Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was a bright star in the sports world of independent Bangladesh. Before the country became independent, he formed the Abahani Samaj Kalyan Sanstha. After returning from the war of liberation, Abahani founded Krirachakra. Besides football, he also formed hockey, cricket and table tennis teams under Abahani Krirachakra. He used to provide modern clothes and sports equipment to the players. He appointed the first British coach in an independent country for advanced training in sports. At one stage, Abahani decided to establish the district branch of Krirachakra.
The Prime Minister said that Sheikh Kamal took various initiatives to make the players self-reliant and also took steps to give them retirement allowance. For that purpose, he formed the ‘Khelwar Kalyan Fund’ with a donation of 10 lakhs from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. His contribution to sports, music, acting, debates, public speaking etc. was undeniable. He has been immortalized in the cultural world by establishing ‘Spandan Shilpi Group’. The man possessed of endless vitality was at the same time very modest, polite, unsophisticated, unassuming and good-natured. He used to mix with common people by being very common. He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
The Prime Minister said that on August 15, 1975, a group of anti-independence killers brutally killed the father of the nation and his family. That very night, the murderers entered Bangabandhu Bhavan at 32 Dhanmondi and killed Sheikh Kamal first. Although Sheikh Kamal was physically killed by the cowardly murderous gang, his path, ideals and direction in the journey to raise Bangladesh’s sports arena to international standards are still a role model.
Noting that Sheikh Kamal has always been a source of inspiration among us and will continue to be in the future, Sheikh Hasina said, on his 73rd birth anniversary, we remember him with deep compassion and affection. I believe, following Sheikh Kamal’s ideal and proven path, our sports arena will soon be at the pinnacle of success in the international arena.
The Prime Minister said that ‘Sheikh Kamal Jatiya Krira Parishad Award-2022’ is being given to those who have made important contributions in various fields of sports in order to remember the contribution of the brave freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal and as a sign of deep respect for his memory. He wished the success of all programs on the occasion of Captain Sheikh Kamal’s birth anniversary celebrations.
