Palli Bidyut Electrician Manik alias ‘Khuar Manik’ has been arrested and sent to jail by the court.
Police arrested him on Tuesday night in a case of attempting to kill an innocent man by cutting off his leg with a sharp knife in a terrorist attack.
Manik is the son of Muslim Uddin of Ambari village in Uor Baradal union of Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj. He was a resident of Jalalpur village of the same union and was working as a rural electrician of Sunamganj Palli Bidyut Samiti’s Badaghat Complaint Center in Tahirpur.
According to the case, Manik, a razor terrorist from Lathial family of Ambari village, stabbed Musa Mia, a member of the same village fishermen’s association, with a sharp knife and injured him in one leg and other parts of his body on August 14. The other member hit Mana Mia with a hammer and left them both dead. Khurra Manik’s brother Mostafa alias Shitala Dag Mostafa, Ratan and several members of their family’s Lathial Bahini took part in the terrorist attack. The injured fishermen were later rescued by locals and taken to the Upazila Hospital in the evening for treatment.
According to the locals, the family of Khur Manik Ambari in the village of Lathial Bahini and the group of the father-in-law’s house in Jalalpur misbehaved with the people of a few villages.
Although Manik is in the district jail in the recent terrorist attack, his family members are threatening to take up the case and return the innocent family members including Masuk and Harun Dhanmia to the village.
There are allegations that Khur Manik Sunamganj, Badaghat Bishwambharpur Palli Bidyut office officials have been defaced in the last few years for electricity connection, extra money in the name of meters, houses and businesses have been harassing them for collecting money from willing customers and planting banana trees.
There are several instances against Manik of harassing customers in various ways when the victims of harassment of rural electricity meters and electricity connections approached him.
Hannan of Ambari village of the upazila complained that Manik could not bring the meter even after taking three thousand rupees in the name of giving the meter two years ago.
Tahirpur police chief said. Abdul Latif Tardar said that the police has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards terrorists and if anyone wants to create unrest by carrying out misconduct, he will be brought under the law.
