Shahidul Islam, Khagrachhari: The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is launching the second phase of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) activities with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to prevent the spread of coronavirus in 11 government hospitals and health centers in Khagrachhari district. The inauguration was held in the hall room of Khagrachhari Red Crescent Unit on Wednesday (June 23) morning.
Khagrachhari Red Crescent Unit Secretary was present. Shane Alam, CHT Wash Project Coordinator Mohammad Arif Rabbani, Khagrachhari Red Crescent Unit Executive Member Jiten Barua and Md. Shahidul Islam, ICRC Water Habitat Engineer Joyce Khisa, ICRC Networking Advisor Shirin Sultana, Khagrachhari Red Crescent Unit Officer Abdul Gani Majumder, Wash Project Officer Himankar Chakma and others.
Meanwhile, the district civil surgeon on Wednesday afternoon on infection prevention and control activities. Representatives of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and International Red Cross Committee paid a courtesy call on Nupur Kanti Das. According to the Khagrachhari Red Crescent Unit, safety equipment will be distributed to 11 government hospitals and health centers in the district under infection prevention and control activities.
These include Chlorine, Hand Gloves, Surgical Mask, Face Slide, PPE, Bucket, Duster Cloth, Floor Cleaner and other protective equipment. Besides, training and necessary safety equipment will be provided to the cleaners in each hospital. It is to be mentioned that last year also infection prevention and control activities were conducted in the hospitals of Khagrachhari district to prevent coronavirus.
