Private cars and autorickshaws collided on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway. Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured.
The accident took place at around 12 noon on Friday in front of Haripur Multipurpose High School near Haripur Bazar in Jaintapur Upazila.
The deceased were identified as Akhter Hossain alias Hossain Ahmed, 35, son of Jalal Uddin of Krishnapur village under Dhaka South Union (Chanderpur) of Golapganj upazila and Abdus Shukur, 49, son of Akbar Ali of Fulbari Hajipur village under the same upazila. However, the identities of the injured were not immediately known. They are all receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
It is learned that the CNG autorickshaw, which had left for Sylhet with vegetables from Darbast Bazar of the upazila, collided head-on with a private car heading to Jaflong from Sylhet when it reached in front of Haripur Multipurpose High School. The autorickshaw was twisted and the driver and vegetable trader were killed on the spot. The driver of the private car and two others were injured. The locals rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital and informed the Jaintapur Model Police Station.
Jaintapur Model Police confirmed the matter.
