Planning Minister MA Mannan warned that corruption must be eradicated from the country. We have to drive the poison out of the country. But corruption cannot be stopped by beating someone. Efforts continue with various laws and regulations.
The three-day training workshop under the National Resilient Program (NPR) program of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) was inaugurated at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Monday (September 27). The Minister said this while inaugurating a workshop on Climate Information Collection and SDG Implementation.
The planning minister warned that corruption must be eradicated from the country, adding that the pressure to prevent corruption would continue. We have to drive the poison out of the country. But corruption cannot be stopped by beating someone. Efforts continue with various laws and regulations.
According to the minister, quality cannot be compromised. There is no benefit in implementing the project if it is not done in a standard manner. Our job is not to stop the project. But the project must be standardized. The project must be taken in the interest of the people. We want to work fast. But we have to work within the law.
Asking questions, the minister further said, “We all work together in case of emergency.” But why not do it in normal time. Same hand, same head, same man. Then why not work as well as an emergency in normal times?
Director General of the Department of Women’s Affairs Ram Chandra Das, Director General of the Department of Disaster Management Atiqul Haque and Representative of UN Women Bangladesh Gitanjali Singh, Director General of BBS Mohammad Tajul presided over the meeting. Rafiqul Islam, Director, Climate Change and Disaster Project, presented the keynote address.
In the main article, Rafiqul Islam said that the information available with different ministries should be used. That is why this training workshop has been organized. Through this two question papers will be finalized. Questionnaires on such solid waste management and environmental safety will be finalized.
Atiqul Haque said that accurate data collection will play a role in capacity building. We have built rescue boats for disaster management. It is being made at the dockyard in Narayanganj. This boat has special arrangements for the disabled, children and women.
