Plaintiffs and witnesses in insecurity over Netrokona rape case

Netrokona Correspondent: The plaintiffs and witnesses of the case are suffering from extreme insecurity due to the fear and beating of the accused by the people in the court.

The plaintiffs and witnesses have filed a GD with the Netrokona Model Police Station on July 4 seeking safety of life.

According to the details of the case, Sanchita Rani Debnath, wife of Ranjit Chandra Debnath of Bairaura Purbapara village in Laxiganj union of Netrokona Sadar upazila, sent Subrata Debnath’s daughter and her niece Priyanti Rani Debnath (15) from Raisabpur village in Kalmakanda upazila to her child. Brings. A few days later, his neighbor Sudhindra’s son Nibedan (21) had a greedy look at his niece Priyanthi.

Being a neighbor, Nibedan would often come home with various excuses and would offer love to his girlfriend whenever he got a chance. At one stage, a love affair developed between them and he raped her by showing the temptation of marriage. When his girlfriend pressures him for marriage, he refuses to get married and makes it clear that he has no relationship with her.

When the matter came to light between the two families, Sanchita Rani prayed to Sudhindra’s family for justice to protect her niece’s honor. With this the arbitral tribunal sat in the village. Sanchita Rani went to the police station to file a case as she did not get justice.

After finding no way out, he filed a case in the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal on June 7, making Nibedan the sole accused.

The wise court directed the OC of Netrokona Model Police Station to investigate and submit a report.

After receiving the news of filing a case in the court, the accused started shouting.

On the other hand, the people of the accused party have been threatening the plaintiffs and witnesses with various kinds of intimidation and beatings to withdraw the case.

At present, the plaintiffs and witnesses are suffering from a kind of anxiety and extreme insecurity. The victim’s family has lodged a GD with Netrokona Model Police Station on July 4 seeking safety of life.

When contacted, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Morsheda Khatun said, “I have visited the spot.” The investigation has found the initial truth. Attempts are being made to arrest the accused.
