Dulal Mia, Sunamganj: The road from Patharia Bazar in South Sunamganj Upazila of Sunamganj District to Banglabazar in the adjoining Dirai Upazila has been in a state of disrepair for a long time. Thousands of people are traveling on this road every day risking their lives. This often leads to accidents on the road.
Locals said, “The road has not been repaired and so much mud has been created in some places that half of a vehicle can be buried in the ground. Mini trucks, pickups, CNG, autorickshaws, motorcycles and other vehicles are plying on this road.” “People, including college and madrasa students, are contacting the upazila and district headquarters. Especially pregnant women, the sick and the elderly have become more vulnerable to travel.”
Abu Hanif Chowdhury, a resident of Bhatipara village, said, “The government is developing thousands of kilometers of roads. But the distance of Patharia-Banglabazar road is only 11 and a half kilometers. People from three unions of the district use this road. Accidents are constantly happening on this road. ‘
Motorcyclist Shah Alam said, ‘The road has broken in places and mud has formed in big holes. Doing so risks your life. I am drawing the attention of those concerned to repair the road. ‘
Mizanur Rahman Jitu, chairman of Shimulbank Union Parishad, said, “The Patharia-Banglabazar road has now become a death trap. The locals are in dire straits as a result of the broken road. , But the lives of the people in this area will be greatly improved. ”
Dirai Upazila Engineer Iftekhar Hossain said, “A project has been sent to the Ministry of Local Government on the recommendation of the Planning Minister to convert the road into Abura. I am hopeful that this important road will be converted into Abura Road.”
