Oxygen crisis in Sylhet and Sisik emergency meeting held

An emergency meeting of Sisik has been held in Sylhet regarding the dire situation of Corona. As time goes on, the death procession is increasing. Besides, there is oxygen crisis in Sylhet. The mayor of Sylhet City Corporation (CSIC) Ariful Haque Chowdhury called the emergency meeting.

The emergency meeting was held on Tuesday (August 3) at 12 noon in the conference room of the city hall. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Arif, Sylhet-1 MP and Foreign Minister was involved in the meeting through virtual. AK Abdul Momen. Later, Mayor Arif briefed the journalists at 2 pm.

At that time, he said, some decisions have been taken with the consent of all those present at the meeting. The most important of these is the supply of adequate oxygen. The companies that supply oxygen in Sylhet have been asked to increase the supply. The foreign minister will hold a meeting with the authorities of the oxygen companies in Dhaka today. The Foreign Minister will also hold a meeting at the Ministry of Health today to discuss ways to increase the capacity of the oxygen circulation plant at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The mayor said the meeting requested the district administration to ensure the use of public masks. In this case, the administration has to be as strict as it needs to be. In addition, a campaign will be launched in every ward of the city under the leadership of all the people’s representatives of Sisik to motivate the people to wear masks. This activity will start from tomorrow (Wednesday).

Mayor Arif said the meeting also discussed about increasing the scope of medical services for corona patients in the upazila health complexes of Sylhet district. If the patients get services at the upazila level, the patient pressure in the city’s hospitals including Osmani Medical and Shamsuddin Hospital will be reduced a lot.

The meeting requested the authorities to collect bills in human form by providing services to corona patients in the city’s private hospitals.
