Tarikul Islam, Khulna: Implementing the slogan ‘Promise of Mujib Year, there will be no homeless family’, a beautifully decorated house is being built in Khulna district for the poor homeless people like the rest of the country.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain inspected the house building activities and progress for the poor people in Rupsha Upazila on Thursday noon and exchanged views with the beneficiaries. He said the homeless people are getting a house to live in permanently at the initiative of the Prime Minister, which will be the best gift of the year of Mujib.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ziaur Rahman said 5,088 landless and homeless families have been listed in Khulna district. In the first phase, house building activities have been undertaken for 922 families. He added that district and upazila level monitoring committees are regularly monitoring the houses to make them sustainable and standard.
Construction work of 72 houses is underway in Rupsha upazila. The construction work of 35 houses has already been completed.
Rupsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Akhter, Project Implementation Officer, local public representatives and beneficiaries were present during the inspection.
