Jaldhaka (Nilphamari) Correspondent: Officers Club has been burnt down in Jaldhaka of Nilphamari. The fire broke out late Sunday night. It is believed that several lakhs of taka have been lost due to this. A fire service unit arrived and brought the fire under control.
During this time, the sound system equipment used in cultural events, including the furniture of the officer’s club and the care project office, was burnt down.
It is learned that a 12-day program titled ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence’ and ‘Developing Bangladesh from Least Developed Countries’ was being organized by the Upazila administration at the Upazila Parishad open stage.
The fire broke out on the concluding day of the Upazila Parishad’s open stage discussion meeting and cultural program on Sunday. According to the locals, the cultural program was going on in the open stage of the Upazila Parishad till 12:30 am on Sunday Then we found out that there was a fire.
Rifat Al Mamun, Upazila Fire Service and Civil Station Officer, said, the “Morning glory”, “We arrived at the spot at 1:15 am after receiving the phonecall and after trying for one hour, we brought the fire under control.” However, he did not say anything about the origin of the fire.
Thana Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Mostafizur Rahman said, “We have not received any written complaint so far.” However, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mahabub Hasan, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sifat Md. Istiaq Vuiyan, Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Abdul Wahed Bahadur, Municipal Mayor Md. Illias Hosen Bablu and I observed on the spot and can say subject to detailed investigation.
