Md. Shahriar Kabir Akand Palashbari (Gaibandha): As if not from Palashbari Fire Service. The houses of the common people worth lakhs of rupees are burning. A house in Ambari village of Palashbari municipality caught fire last Saturday. Everything in the family was burnt down in an instant. Only the Holy Quran is intact. It’s not just the history of a family in Ambari. Many people of the upazila have lost their homes due to the fire service personnel not reaching the spot properly.
But! The Palashbari Fire Service Station in Gaibandha is not able to provide service even after the inauguration. On November 1, 2016, the Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated the fire service buildings in 47 districts simultaneously from Ganobhaban through video conference. The list includes the Palashbari Fire Service. Although a long time has passed, the contractor has not yet been able to hand over the building to the concerned authorities. The residents of Gaibandha Sadar, Gobindaganj and Pirganj upazilas of Rangpur have to rely on the fire service in various accidents. The mentioned stations are located about 20 km away from Palashbari. It can be seen that firefighters are often present at the scene 40 to 45 minutes after the accident. Gaibandha Fire Service Deputy Director Enamul Haque told Daily Morning Glory that the building was completed and the necessary equipment and manpower were ready.
But there is a delay in handing over the power and water transmission works. We are taking immediate steps in this regard.
In this situation, the people of Palashbari Upazila are seeking the vision of the concerned authorities to launch the long-awaited service quickly and provide the service.
