Moulvibazar also monitors consumer market on holidays, fines 5 companies

Five companies have been fined in the operation of the Consumer Rights Protection Department in Moulvibazar. On Friday, market surveillance and operations were carried out in different areas of the district including Berirchar Road, Paschimbazar, Kudrat Ullah Road of Sadar upazila.

Under the leadership of Al-Amin and in collaboration with the District Intelligence Branch, monitoring and awareness activities are conducted in other shops including daily necessities, fish and meat shops, pharmacy shops. A total of Tk 7,500 was collected from 5 companies during the operation. Instructions are given to sell daily necessities including fish meat at proper weight and fair price.

Al-Amin, the assistant director, said the western market was responsible for various irregularities including underweight, non-preservation of purchase vouchers, sale of expired food products, non-availability of price lists, sale of food items at exorbitant prices, pollution of environment without proper storage of chicken waste. A fine of Tk 1,000 was imposed on Ruhul Amin’s fish shop, Tk 1,000 on Samia Poultry House, Tk 2,000 on Jalil’s chicken shop, Tk 3,000 on Abdul Malik Khan Store and Tk 500 on Selim Poultry House on Berirchar Road. He further said that the supervision activities of the Department of Consumer Protection will continue to ensure the availability of daily necessities at fair prices.
