Mamata Banerjee mourns the death of Hasan Azizul Haque

Mamata Banerjee has expressed deep grief over the death of renowned fiction writer Hasan Azizul Haque, winner of Ekushey Padak and Swadhinata Puraskar.

In a condolence message on Tuesday, he said that his death was an irreparable loss to the literary world.

In her condolence message, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee further said, “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and fans of Hasan Azizul Haque.”

Renowned novelist Hasan Azizul Haque died at his home in Rajshahi around 9:30 pm on Monday. He was born on 2 February 1939 in Yabgram, Burdwan district in present day West Bengal, India.

In 1973, he joined Rajshahi University as a Professor in the Department of Philosophy. He retired in 2004 after teaching at the university for 31 consecutive years.
