A South African court has sentenced the daughter of Mahatma Gandhi’s granddaughter to seven years in prison for financial fraud and forgery.
The judge handed down the verdict against 56-year-old Ashish Lata Ramgobin on Monday. Ashish Lata is the daughter of Mahatma Gandhi’s granddaughter Ella Gandhi.
The South African National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) told the court on Monday that Ashish Latar met businessman SR Maharaj in 2015. The Maharaja imported clothes from India and made shoes and exported them to different countries. And on this occasion he snatched the money by talking about the businessman.
According to the agreement, the businessman filed a case against Ashish Lata for not keeping his promise. The court sentenced him to seven years in prison after the allegations were proved.
