Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the capital’s Evercare Hospital, has been shifted to a cabin after a month. He was taken to the cabin at 5:15 pm on Thursday.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters.
He said it is risky to stay in CCU for a long time. Khaleda Zia had an infection there once. So the doctors took him to the cabin. He is undergoing treatment for post-covid complications with CCU facilities in the cabin.
After being infected with coronavirus on April 10, Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on April 27 after being treated by a team of private doctors at her home in Firoza, Gulshan. On May 3, the doctors transferred him to the CCU when he suddenly felt short of breath. Khaleda Zia is suffering from arthritis, diabetes and heart and kidney complications due to post-covid complications. Evercare Hospital cardiologist said.
He is undergoing treatment under the supervision of a 10-member medical board headed by Shahabuddin Talukder.
According to a doctor of the medical team, the medical board has decided to take Khaleda Zia to the cabin after monitoring her physical condition in the last one week. His treatment will continue in the cabin. Here he will be under the supervision of doctors. The next decision will be taken after looking at his physical condition – when, when he can be taken to his home in Gulshan Firoza.
The doctor of the medical board further said that the physical condition of the BNP chairperson is improving. Several days ago, all his antibiotics were stopped. Heart condition is very good, diabetic control, lungs no longer water. Treatment will now be done for the previous problems including arthritis. The problems that Khaleda Zia has are long term problems. This requires long-term treatment. Now if he can be treated abroad for a long time in a higher center or abroad, he will recover faster and much better.
