Kabaddi competition has been held in Sylhet under the management of 17th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army and 52nd Infantry Brigade (65th Bengal). Major General Hamidul Haque, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 17 Infantry Division and Major General Hamidul Haque, NSWC, PSC distributed prizes among the winners after the final match of the competition at Jalalabad Cantonment on Thursday afternoon.
In the final match of the tournament, the 24th Infantry Division won the title by defeating the 55th Infantry Division by 28-27 points. The best player of the tournament was UP Lance Corporal Rabiul Awal of 55 Infantry Division and the best new player was Ardeep Ravi Das of 10 Infantry Division.
In a short speech after the award ceremony, GOC Major General Hamidul Haque said, “In 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the game as a national game. We are trying to cherish the tradition. The relentless effort and strategy to win this competitive game will inspire the members of the army at work. ‘
He emphasized on organizing regular games with the aim of producing national level kabaddi players from Sylhet cantonment.
He was the president of the board of directors of the game, the commander of the 52nd Infantry Division, Brigadier General. Saladin Ahmed NDC, AFWC, PSC. 65th Bengal’s captain Lt. was a member. Colonel Md. Mehedi Hasan, PPM, Member Secretary Major Ahmadur Rahman, Army Kabaddi Team OIC Captain Ata-Irabbi Chowdhury. Brigadier General Mohammad Morshed Alam, Commander of the Station Headquarters, presided over the Board of Appeals. QMG branch coordinator Lt. was a member. Colonel Beg Sabbir Ahmed, PSC, ADST of Area Headquarters Lt. Colonel Safiul Azam Siddiqui, PSC, Major SM Tanvir Islam of 64E Bengal. Army members including senior officers working in Sylhet area were present at the time.
