The registration of IP TV will be given very soon and the guidelines will be made before that, said the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Hasan Mahmud.
“We are setting a number of guidelines and our aim is to further develop this sector,” he said.
The information minister made the remarks at an inter-ministerial meeting on Wednesday (September 22) during a review of IP TV registration at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s meeting room at the Secretariat.
The meeting was attended by State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Maqbool Hossain, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Department Afzal Hossain and heads of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission-BTRC and Information Department.
Dr. Hassan Mahmood said, “We want the new media to be more developed, but at the same time it should not be used differently in any way, so that our culture, culture, heritage is preserved.”
So that our new generation can use this medium to build life, so that they become more convinced in building life, so that patriotism, patriotism, values, affection develop more among them.
He said that in addition to IP TV, today’s meeting also discussed OTT platform policy and other new media. We have reviewed many of these evolving versatile mediums. At the meeting we decided that the registration of IP TV will be given very soon, before that the guidelines will be made.
The Information Minister said, “We have taken initiative to give IP TV registration in Bangladesh. About 600 applications have been submitted.” We have taken the initiative to give registration after verification and selection of many has been completed. Our meeting today is aimed at setting a guideline i.e. registration conditions before registering.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said the means of entertainment, education and training have changed in the era of massive expansion of information technology.
What was once limited to electronic or conventional print media has now evolved into a myriad of new technologies such as social media, Internet protocol television and radio, over the top (OTT) platforms, video streaming, video on demand .
Earlier, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting met with the leaders of the journalist organization. Hasan Mahmud. Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists-BFUJ President Mollah Jalal, Secretary General Mohammad met at the Minister’s Secretariat. Abdul Majid, President of National Press Club Farida Yasmin, General Secretary Ilias Khan, Dhaka Reporters Unity-DRU President Mursalin Nomani, General Secretary Mashiur Rahman Khan.
After the meeting, the minister told reporters that journalists are our development partners. Everyone should be careful so that no one can tarnish the image of journalists’ bank accounts and ruin the cordial relations of journalists with the government.
There is no room for misunderstanding. I am looking into the matter as the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Information.
