Abdullah Al Mamun: International Literacy Day-2021 has been celebrated in Chapainawabganj with the theme of “Literacy for Human Restoration, Reducing Digital Divisions”. On this occasion, a discussion meeting was organized by the district administration and the district non-formal education bureau in the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office at 12:15 pm on Wednesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Debendranath Uraon presided over the function and Deputy Commissioner Md. Manjurul Hafeez addressed the function as the chief guest. At the same time, he said, educated people are the wealth of the country.
The government is implementing multi-faceted activities for the overall development of the country’s education system as well as literacy and skills development. Besides, the country will be completely illiterate if all work together to achieve the desired goal of development of Bangladesh by turning the country’s large working population into skilled human resources by imparting proper education.
Among others, the principal of Nawabganj Government College Prof. Dr. Shankar Kumar Kundu, Chapainawabganj Government Women’s College Principal Prof. Monowara Khatun, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Atowar Rahman, District Education Officer Md. Abdur Rashid, Chapainawabganj PTI Superintendent MHM Ruhul Amin, Executive Director of Chetna Humanitarian Development Organization Jafrul Alam and others spoke.
It may be mentioned that Bangabandhu declared education as free and compulsory to eradicate illiteracy from the country. Expressing solidarity with the International Forum for the Promotion of Literacy, Literacy Day was celebrated for the first time in 1972 in an independent country.
